We cut our lavender using a specialised lavender harvester. Once the lavender is cut, it is taken directly to the distiller.
We use the traditional steam distillation process to distil the lavender into oil. During this process steam is passed through a vessel containing the cut lavender. This vaporises the lavender oil in the plant. The steam and oil vapour pass through a cooling condenser where the gases cool and then reliquify. At this point the oil and the water separate and the oil floats on top of the water. This is then tapped off as pure lavender oil and then sent for drying and filtration to make it ready for sale. The process uses no chemicals.
