Our 2018 photography competition was a great success with hundreds of entries from all ages and visitors from all over the world. We are delighted to announce that we have chosen a winner.

Photo Competition Winning Photo 2018

Basking in the sunshine, it’s an image of Mayfield Lavender Farm that perfectly captures the beautiful summer of 2018.

And it has just beaten several hundred other entries to the top prize in our annual photographic competition.

Matthew Paskin, a broadcast engineer from Staines, used a Canon EOS 7D MK II to take the photo.

The 44-year-old said: “Photography is my passion and I most enjoy travel photography. I have been very blessed to travel to many parts of the world and have taken photos of many amazing places.
“This was our first visit to Mayfield Lavender Farm which I visited with my wife and some of her family from South Africa. We absolutely loved the place, highly recommend it and we definitely look forward to our visit this year.”

Mayfield Lavender Farm owner Brendan Maye said: “As usual we had many worthy photos that could have won. We picked this one because it beautifully showcases our farm and the work we do to cut, sell and harvest fresh bunches of lavender throughout the summer.”
